Ramea gives one a sense of real outport life and hospitality. Chat with residents who frequent the wharfs and fishing stages, participate in a ‘yarn’ and learn all the latest happenings. Ramea is a welcoming community and locals at the wharf are happy to chat your ear off as part of the warm and famous Newfoundland hospitality.

Ramea Walking Trail
Ramea boasts a boardwalk around a diverse landscape with it’s own unique native plants, to the highest point at the top of Man O’War Hill. Check out stunning view of the mouth of White Bear Bay on the mainland and the islands that make up the Ramea Island archipelago.

Bird Watching
Ramea is a stopover for many migratory birds and home to a variety of seabirds. Bald eagles nest on the surrounding islands and rare puffin colonies roost nearby.

White Bear Bay Fjord
One of the foremost salmon rivers in the world is a short boat ride away. This breathtaking fjord is home to an abundance of wildlife including bald eagles, moose, caribou and black bear.

Community Gazebo
A gathering place for community events, this newly renovated gazebo is open for everyone to come and enjoy. Sit and read a book, have a picnic, or just enjoy the views.

Rock Island Music Festival
For a rousing good time and to hear traditional music by local musicians and entertainers, come to the 3-day musical festival held around the second weekend in August.

Wilderness Kayaking
Rent a kayak or bring your own and explore the beaches and coves of the Ramea Archipelago and watch for whales and seals as you glide by.

Heritage Centre
The Heritage Centre provides visitor information, a glimpse into local history and traditions and locally made crafts. Washroom, Shower facilities, Wi-Fi and snacks are also available during the summer season.

Northwest Head Lighthouse
Walk the scenic boardwalk to one of the last staffed lighthouses in Newfoundland. From the lighthouse deck on a clear day you could see to Bermuda (if the earth were flat).

The Unexplored Coast
Take a boat ride down the coast to see the remains of resettled communities. Go where many dream about but don’t get to. See glacially carved fjords stretching miles inland with towering granite cliffs, waterfalls and fresh water streams at their head. For a larger adventure use the provincial ferries to overnight to Grey River, Francois and even connect to Hermitage.
